Dr. Sooriyakala Sreekumar brings over three decades of expertise in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including 10 years of clinical experience in the United Kingdom. As the Medical Director and Head of the Department at Sooriya Hospital, she has been instrumental in introducing patient-centric innovations that have redefined maternity care.

She strongly believes in adopting non-surgical approaches to gynaecological problems whenever feasible, promoting holistic and minimally invasive care. Her philosophy of non-medicalising pregnancy—focusing on the mother’s overall fitness—has led to the successful implementation of Antenatal Yoga in Pregnancy sessions at the hospital. These sessions have enabled more than 80% of women to achieve natural deliveries with minimal need for medical pain relief.

Additionally, she pioneered Parentcraft Classes, delivered weekly by an in-house counselling team to educate couples on antenatal and postnatal care, supporting confident and informed parenthood.
