What it is: A non-invasive test to measure your hearing ability across different pitches and volumes.
How it’s done: You’ll be in a quiet, sound-proofed room and wear headphones. An audiologist will play various beeps, tones, and sometimes words. You’ll signal every time you hear a sound, even if it’s very faint. Each ear is tested separately. A vibrating device might also be placed behind your ear or on your forehead to check inner ear function.
Time: 30-45 minutes.
